SPEAKING OF SPORTS: Highway to the football zone
Football University's Top Gun Showcase is set for Friday-Sunday at Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples. The event is an annual three-day showcase designed to highlight the best middle and high school FBU student-athletes in an intense, positionspecific test of technical skill and ability.
On March 3, 1969, the United States Navy established an elite school for the top 1% of its pilots. Its purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to ensure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world. They succeeded. Today, the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School. The flyers call it: TOP GUN.
