Healthy food co-ops sprouting in Southwest Florida
Salad greens are growing—roots suspended in midair—in the white towers of the new Plantacious Girl business launched in Golden Gate Estates this April. Owner Kara Thornton grows green vegetables, edible flowers and herbs using the aeroponic growing method, with the plants’ roots floating without soil and consistently misted with a mix of nutrients and water.
