When Gulf Coast High School activities coordinator Alan Scott conducted a nationwide search for the next Sharks head football coach, he reviewed resumes of candidates from North Dakota, South Dakota and Texas, in addition to several from across the state of Florida. In all, 26 candidates applied for the job, but one truly stood out—and it was the one already in the building.
