Growing up along the Bosporus in Europe, athletics was a big part of my life. My father had been a member of a local semi-pro soccer team in the 1940s. It seemed his participation had a significant impact on our family’s love of sports and the community. I still have photos of the team that he signed. These are memories that I treasure.
