When Aysegul Timur and her husband moved to Naples from Istanbul in 1998, it was “a big culture shock,” Timur said. “Istanbul is a very busy city. It has a population of 14 million, it’s in a place where two continents meet and it’s a 24-hour city. When we got to Marco Island, I felt like the plane had crashed and we ended up in Heaven, it was so beautiful.”
